Ajith Jinjil is a medical graduate
from the Armed Forces Medical
College, Pune and has nearly 10 years of experience as a clinician and
administrator in the Army Medical Corps. Alongside his course at IBAB,
he is also pursuing post graduate diploma in business administration
from the Symbiosis Centre of Distance Learning, Pune. His future
interests include pursuing a PhD in bioinformatics or alternatively
work in the bioinformatics industry. The areas of study which interest
him are real time data mining, functional proteomics and systems
biology.

Arnab Sarkar is
an electrical engineer from Raipur University. His interest in
bioinformatics and genetics brought him to IBAB. Systems biology,
molecular modelling, in-silico drug designing, sequence analysis and
protein ligand binding are some areas which fascinates me. Apart from
academics, Arnab enjoys singing and listening to old film songs.

Ashish Kumar Singh is a chemistry graduate from St.Xavier's College,
Ranchi. He joined IBAB with the intention to learn about the latest
developments in Bioinformatics and finds in-silico drug
designing and molecular modelling interesting. However, computational
chemistry is a preferred subject and his long time career plans centre
around this subject.

N C Bhanumathi Devi holds a post-graduate degree in pharmaceutical
sciences, specialising in pharmaceutical technology from Andhra
University, Visakhapatnam. Subsequently, she worked as a Formulations
Research and Development Executive in Dr.Reddy's Laboratories,
Hyderabad. She feels that Bioinformatics has added a new perspective to
her understanding of biology and would like to use the skills acquired
at IBAB for further research in the areas of drug design and drug
targeting.

Chanchal Kumar obtained his bachelor's degree in information
technology from Delhi University. His twin interests in biology and
computer science brought him to IBAB, which he believes is an important
milestone in his academic career. He finds algorithm design, protein
structure prediction and molecular modelling interesting and would like
to pursue a career in this field.

Dheeraj Sikri
is a graduate in information technology from the Hamdard University,
New Delhi. The process of simplifying diverse biological data using
computational tools has been an area which has interested him and he
would like to use his knowledge of computer science in this area.
Dheeraj would like to develop innovative wet lab techniques and
simultaneously an in silico tool for the same.

Farha Bano is
a microbiology graduate from Barkatullah University, Bhopal. Her
special interest lies in the field of immunology. However, the course
at IBAB has further expanded her interest to molecular biology and in
silico drug designing. After her course at IBAB, Farha hopes to
do research, preferably in academia. Her other interests are travelling
and she enjoys a good book.

Flavia Peter D' Souza has completed her BTech (Computer Science and
Technology) from the Institute of Technology, Mumbai. As part of her
engineering degree, she completed a project in image manipulation and
display. Subsequently, she worked as a business productivity analyst
for a short period in a software company (Maestros Mediline System).
Flavia is interested in computational biology, genetic algorithm and in
gene prediction techniques.

Garima Bharti is a chemistry graduate from Mumbai University. She
wants to work in the field of oncology and would like to apply the
concepts of drug design and modelling to cancer research. Outside IBAB,
she likes to read, write and listen to music.

Harinder Narvan is a food technologist from SLIET Institute,
Punjab Technical University. After her course at IBAB she would like to
pursue a career in the area of genetically modified foods.

Harkewal Singh obtained his post graduate degree in chemistry,
specialising in organic chemistry from DSB Campus, Kumaon University,
Nainital. Spectroscopic analysis and NMR are his areas of interest as
also software programming in C and C++. Alongside, he has also been
involved with active farming in the state of Uttaranchal. His long term
plans is to use the knowledge of chemistry as well as the
bioinformatics & biotechnological tools in the area of
pharmaceuticals.

Hemlata Sharma is a postgraduate in chemistry from Kirorimal
College, Delhi University. At IBAB she has found computational
chemistry and molecular modelling interesting and would like to
contribute in that field.

Kuljeet Singh Sandhu is graduate in life sciences from Lucknow
Christian Postgraduate College. He subsequently worked as a research
scholar studying 'cell signalling and gene expression' for a year in
University of Mumbai. The field that interests him most is
functional/computational genomics. He finds bioinformatics as an
essential tool in contemporary research in biology and would like to
develop computer programs for biological research. ExPrimer is a freely
available bioinformatics application developed by him in a three months
part-time project at IBAB. Besides research, poetry interests him.

Lokanath Khamari has obtained his engineering degree in computer
science and engineering from Orissa Engineering College, Utkal
University, Bhubaneswar. He finds that the computational skills he has
acquired is keeping him in good stead in the field of bioinformatics.
He would like to work in proteomics, genetic algorithm, Hidden Markov
Modelling and developing biological databases.

Manas Mohan is
a graduate in life sciences from the University of Lucknow. His area of
interest include proteomics and homology modelling. In the future he
would like to use his programming skills in computational biology. He
enjoys reading in his spare time.

Maneesha JoshiI holds a postgraduate degree in Microbiology
from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. Subsequently she worked as molecular
geneticist at Cumballa Hill Hospital, Mumbai. The course at IBAB has
interested her in sequence analysis, protein folding, molecular
modelling and in-silico gene prediction as also refining her computer
skills. She enjoys learning languages, reading and is an accomplished
classical dancer.

M. Monzoorul Haque obtained his post graduate degree in botany from
Andhra University. Thereafter, he obtained an MPhil in biology
(microbial genetics) at the Madurai Kamaraj University. He feels that
the intensive course at IBAB has helped him consolidate many of his
concepts in basic biology and biotechnology, besides giving him good
exposure to mathematics, statistics and programming skills. Monzoor
would like to apply his bioinformatics and wet lab skills in plant
science research either in academics or industry.

Bihar. Her interests lie in the field of plant genetics. She finds that
the course at IBAB has exposed her to the latest tools in
bioinformatics that would go a long way in aiding research in the field
of genetics.

Prajkta. P. Kunte is an engineering graduate in computer science and
technology from the Institute for Technology for Women, S.N.D.T
University, Mumbai. She feels that the diverse curriculum at IBAB has
broadened her perspective in science. She would like to work in the

Rahul Yadava
is a computer engineering graduate from KNMIET, Modinagar. As part of
the course he worked on a project at Scientific Analysis Group
(SAG)/DRDO on the development of different pattern recognition tools
and developed various classifiers based on statistical and neural
pattern recognition techniques. He also developed a data mining system
for classification and rule extraction as part of his final year
engineering project. In the future he would like to work in the field
of machine learning, artificial intelligence and data mining.

Raj Shekhar
is a veterinary science graduate from Rajendra Agriculture University,
Pusa, Bihar. After graduating he spent two years working as veterinary
officer in Animal Husbandry Department, Government of Bihar, where he
handled a variety of clinical cases. After graduating from IBAB, he
hopes to use bioinformatics and biotechnology skills in the field of
immunodiagnostics.

is an engineer in computer science from the Punjab Technical
University, Jallandhar. The life sciences have always fascinated him
and the course at IBAB has given him opportunity to pursue both his
interests. Molecular modelling, protein ligand docking and in-silico
drug design are some of the areas which
interest him.

Reena Khurana is a postgraduate in life sciences from Punjab
University, Chandigarh and has also worked in the area of toxicology as
the subject for her MPhil degree. Thereafter, she worked as a subeditor
with Quest , a popular science magazine. Reena's
entrepreneurial skill translated itself into a multimedia company,
which is involved in design and online learning. The unit is now
self-sustaining, leaving her free to pursue academics once again at
IBAB. She is interested in proteomics and would like a career in this
field. Reena enjoys a good workout and is a non-fiction enthusiast.

Samson Joseph is a BTech in biomedical engineering from Cochin
University. As part of his engineering course, he has been involved in
the holographic study of artificial human heart valves using laser
technology. At IBAB, he is interested in all aspects of biology and
computational algorithms. His long term plan is to design user friendly
biotech electronic equipments. Samson is passionate about music and is
a drummer and singer.

R. Sanjeev Sarvanan holds a postgraduate degree in life sciences from
the University of Mumbai. At IBAB, he wants to particularly hone his
computer and software skills, as these would be essential for his
future study of protein folding and structure determination. His
leisure time is spent reading and listening to music.

Sanjukta Ghosh is a post graduate in chemistry (specialising in
organic chemistry), Delhi University. She finds combinatorial
chemistry, in silico drug designing and molecular modelling
interesting and her long term career plans would focus around these
subjects.

Siva Tulasi
Siva Tulasi obtained her post graduate diploma in information
technology from IIIT-Hyderabad (International Institute of Information
Technology, Hyderabad), after her bachelor's degree in computer
applications from Andhra University. The course at IBAB has given an
insight into computational skills in biological applications.
Computational biology, protein structure prediction and molecular
modelling interest her and she would like to pursue a career in these
fields.

Sreelal Sankar obtained his bachelor's degree in ayurvedic
medicine and surgery from the V. P. S. V Ayurveda College, Kotakkal,
Kerala. He is interested in explaining proven traditional medicines in
molecular terms and hopes his stay at IBAB will guide him in that
direction. Sreelal wants to do research in the area of pharmacokinetics
of ayurvedic drugs; action of external treatments in various systemic
diseases and the benefits of ayurvedic massages in physiotherapy. He
enjoys trekking and a game of table tennis and cricket.

Swati Swayamprava is a postgraduate in microbiology from the Orissa
University of Agriculture and Technology. The course at IBAB has got
her interested in the use of various bioinformatics tools, advanced
cytogenetics and the study of DNA conformations. Her future plans
include active research in molecular biotechnology with specific
reference to industrial microbiology and zoological conservation. In
her free time Swati likes to sketch and writes poetry.

Tanushree A.B. is a graduate in computer engineering graduate
from V. T. U (Visweswariah Technical University), Nitte, Karnataka. She
is interested in homology modelling and gene prediction using the
various tools of bioinformatics. She hopes to work in a reputed
industry after she graduates from IBAB.

Tarun Kumar Singh is a botany graduate from Bihar University,
Muzzafarpur. He is interested in comparative genomics and proteomics
and would like to develop and design drugs for microbial diseases.
After his course at IBAB he would like to work in this area, either in
academia or an industry. Tarun is also an avid sportsman and has played
district level cricket.

Vidyendra Sadanandan is a BTech (electrical and electronics) from the
Government College of Engineering, Kannur, University of Calicut,
Kerala. He has over 4 years of work experience as software professional
and has worked in companies such as Transmatics Systems Ltd (R&D),
GuildSoft Pvt. Ltd., and at the R&D Lab at CS Telecom. His work
experience includes software projects for UNIDO, Vienna and various
other clients in the US. Vidyendra believes that the training at IBAB
has provided insight into utilizing his computational skills for
efficient exploitation of biological information. His areas of
interests are machine learning, dynamic programming, ANN, HMMs, genetic
algorithms and data visualization.

Vikrant Goel obtained his bachelor's degree in pharmacy from M.
D. University, Rohtak, Haryana. His field of interest is the
application of biotechnology in the pharma industry and drug designing
and he would like to work in this area in the future.
