Aklank Choudhary
is graduate in Agriculture sciences
from College of Agriculture, Indore. He subsequently pursued an
Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Biotechnology. He is particularly
interested in plant functional/computational genomics. He undertook
studying of molecular stress response of plants for project work and
played a major role in establishing the plant tissue culture facility,
from scratch, at IBAB.

biochemistry from Utkal University, Orissa. Subsequently, he worked as
a Group Leader in ProteinLounge, a bioinformatics company. His
interests lies in studying different aspects of Signaling Pathways,
Protein Binding Interactions and Computational Structural Biology.

Aparna Basappa Reddy
holds a B.D.S degree from Bangalore University.After graduation she
worked as a dentist in a private dental clinic for 2 years.Her
curiosity in the 'why' and 'how' of human diseases led her to join the
bioinformatics course in IBAB. Cancer Biology and Clinical research are
the key areas which appeal to her.Apart from academics IBAB has
accredited her with some basic entreprenural skills which she finds to
be very helpful.She enjoys reading and making candles in her lesure
time.

Biswatosh Pati is
a postgraduate in life sciences (Biochemistry) from Sambalpur
Univerisity, Orissa. He had worked in a protein related database at
ProteinLounge (www. proteinlounge. com) as a Research Associate for 14
months. He joined IBAB with an intention to learn more about
bioinformatics. The field of proteomics, especially structural biology
is one of his most interesting areas and he wishes to contribute to
that by research or any other manner. He enjoys inspecting various
signaling pathway, variuos biological interactions and pathways related
to that. His research project at IBAB involved studying the various
molecular mechanisms and pathways of Huntington's Disease and their
complex interactions. In leiusure, he enjoys reading books from classic
to modern literature, listening to music and playing games like
football, cricket, badminton, etc.

Chetan. B H is
a computer science engineer from M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology,
Bangalore (affiliated to Visveshvaraiah Technological University,
Belgaum). He is amazed by the sheer size and complexity of biological
data, and is keen to apply computational techniques to solve biological
problems like protein folding, e-cell, etc. His interests include
microarray data analysis, molecular modelling, and mining biological
data.

Laura Levette Fernandes is an Electronics and Telecommunication engineer from
Goa University. She would like to use and develop her skills in data
analysis and provide effective solutions in the field of
bioinformatics. The course at IBAB has helped her in enhancing
analytical and problem solving skills and made her realize that the
current need of the hour is 'analysis of the huge volumes of data'.
Clinical research, Proteomics, Data mining/Data analysis and
Computational structural bioinformatics are the areas that fascinate
her the most.

Bioinformatics. The opportunity to interact with students from various
backgrounds has been a great experience. Her interests include
Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and Clinical Research. She enjoys
drawing, painting, dancing, and travelling.

Maumita Saha is
a medical graduate from Calcutta University, Kolkata, West Bengal.
After obtaining her medical degree she worked in medical/ clinical
field for more than four years. During this period she received a wide
range of exposure as Medical officer in Medicine, Field doctor in
multinational maternity clinic, House surgeon in Obstetrics &
Gynecology etc. While dealing with various diseases, her analytical
mind always wanted to understand the biology of human diseases and to
follow an integrated approach for their remedies. In pursuit of her
desire, Maumita joined IBAB. IBAB gave her the opportunity to keep
abreast of all the latest means in the molecular approach towards
understanding and curing diseases. Maumita's professional interest lies
in Clinical related research, Clinical trial, Industrial biotechnology
for healthcare products and Health informatics. She would feel happy if
she can some way contribute to the global drive of creating a healthier
world with the help of Molecular biology for better understanding of
disease processes.

of Pune & has 2 years of experience in teaching chemistry to
undergraduate students. His interests include synthetic organic
chemistry, computer aided drug design, structural bioinformatics and

Mitendra Anand
is an IT engineering graduate from IGNOU- SOCIS and also holds a Higher
National Diploma in Computing from the Business & Technical
Education Council, Edexcel Foundation, London. A key project he was
involved was the "Distributed Systems Project", a web-based and
database driven system. It had appropriate security to prevent damage
and unauthorized access. At IBAB, he is particularly involved in a
project for "Growing genetic regulatory network", which includes
Probabilistic Boolean Networks that share the rule based properties of
Boolean network and also presented methods for quantifying the
influence of genes on other genes. His field of interest are Object
oriented modeling, Data mining, Artificial intelligence, Microarrays
and Protein structure determination.

Mokkarala V S L N Ravikumar is a postgraduate in Statistics from Andhra
University. His interest in Biological data analysis made him to join
IBAB. The course in IBAB helped him in understanding the Biological
concepts to infer data more efficiently. His areas of interest include
Clincial Research Trials, Multivariate, Micro Array Analysis. By making
use of the Bioinformatics Knowledge, Statistical Ability and
Programming Skills he want to develop new Algorithms and Tools for
Bioinformatics. His experience includes 6 yrs of teaching Statistics
and Optimization techniques for Post Graduates and Engineering
students. His expertise in SPSS, SYSstat, MatLab softwares helped him
in attaining speed and accuracy.

Monisha Hajra holds
a post graduate degree in Biochemistry from Calcutta University. Her
interest in bioinformatics and genetic analysis from her post graduate
days brought her to IBAB. Drug designing, molecular modeling, genetic
analysis are some of the areas which interest her the most. She aspires
to be designing drugs in future using her sound knowledge in
bioinformatics, biology and chemistry. She likes to read biographies
and autobiographies of great scientists.

Neela Shanti Kumar is a postgraduate in Zoology (Animal Physiology) from
Mumbai University. She has gained wet lab experience in IBAB during her
inhouse project. The IBAB course has given her a good introduction to
computer programming. She is fascinated by working with students from
different backgrounds. Her areas of interest include wet lab work in
molecular biology, scientific writing, clinical trials and IPR. She
would like to enhance her lab techniques and writing skills. She enjoys
reading (fiction and non-fiction), travelling, and singing.

specialisation in the field of Biochemistry from Ravenshaw (autonomous)
College, Cuttack. He then joined IBAB, where he feels that he had the

techniques of biological wet lab research. His interests are in the
field of Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell biology, Structural biology
and Drug designing.

P. Rajalalitha holds
a BDS (Bachelor of Dental Science) degree from M.R.Ambedkar Dental
College, Bangalore. Later, she worked as a resident in Sanjay Gandhi
Accident hospital and Research center for about 10 months. At IBAB she
has gained good knowledge in computer programming and developed good
bioinformatics skills which will help her in working efficiently at any
R&D division of biotech/healthcare companies. She is a classical
dancer and enjoy gardening.

P.Leela Maitreyi is a postgraduate from the department of Zoology,
University of Delhi, with a specialization in Cell & Molecular
biology. Subsequently she worked as a Junior Research Fellow in the
department of Biochemistry, I.I.T Delhi. She thinks the course at
I.B.A.B, being very exhaustive and comprehensive, has made her
understand the intricacies of studying an interdisciplinary subject
like Bioinformatics. She attributes the success of this course to its
multifaceted roles aimed at not just academic excellence but also in
instilling the power of teamwork, together with entrepreneurial skills.
The core areas of study, which interest her, are cancer biology,
functional genomics and would like to apply her knowledge of
computational structural biology in the field of therapeutics for
cancer.

a B. Tech in Information Technology, Vellore Institute of Technology
(Madras University). She worked in a project at IBAB on gene regulatory
networks which kindled her interest in Microarrays and to understand
the genetic variations during pathogenic stage. Her further interests
include datamining and computational neurosciences. She is interested
to continue her higher studies in these key areas of interest.

Poorvi Jayant Kaushik studied Chemical Engineering at the Manipal Institute of
Technology, where she specialized in Biochemical Engineering, Advanced
Bioprocess Engineering and Biotechniques. As a student there, she
presented papers on Human Genome Mapping and Virus Vectors in Gene
Therapy. Her strong base in Chemical Process Design and Analysis
allowed her to make best use of the opportunities provided by IBAB. She
has a keen interest in molecular biology, protein engineering and
metabolic pathways. Her research project at IBAB involved studying the
various molecular mechanisms and pathways of Parkinson's Disease and
their complex interactions. She enjoys adventure sports like rappeling,
para-sailing and white-water rafting and has hiked on foot in the
jungles of Nagarhole. She is also very fond of writing, and believes
that deglamourised and honest science must be conveyed to the public
for more than just its shock value.

University. His prior experience in designing of biosensor and ECG
monitoring system as well as enthusiasm towards exploring newer domains
brought him to IBAB. He enjoys software programming and has an ambition

Ranjit Kumar holds
a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from School of Computer

HND from Edexcel Foundation London in Computing. His dual interest in
computers and biology has brought him to field of bioinformatics. His
research interest includes homology modeling, protein folding, multiple
sequence analysis, database management, data mining, development of
algorithms (Genetic algorithm) and randomized algorithms.

Ravi Kant is
an IT graduate (BIT) from School of Computers and Information Science,
IGNOU. He has done BTEC HND in Computing from Edexcel Foundation
London, U.K. and has worked on development of many websites including
the website of Bioinformatics Center, Indian Institute of Science. His
research project at IISc, "Sweet and Taste modifying proteins -
Comparative modeling and Docking studies of Curculin, Mabinlin,
Miraculin with the T1R2-T1R3 receptor" is being considered for
publication. He was selected for M.S. in Media Informatics (2003-2005)
from RWTH, Aachen, Germany, but he decided to join IBAB because of his
immense interest in the subject. He is writing a review on Sweet
Proteins with the help of Dr. Gayatri Saberwal at IBAB. His area of
research interest are Protein-Protein Interaction, Comparative
modeling, Docking and Computer Aided Drug Design. He would also like to
use and implement Knowledge Base Systems in Computational Biology later
in his career.

Ravi Kumar Potukuchi is a postgraduate in Organic Chemistry from Nagarjuna
University , Guntur, A.P. He has several years of work experience in
various organisations viz. ASIAN PAINTS as a Chemist, IIT MADRAS, as a
project associate (in pursuit of registering for Ph.D), DRDO(Mumbai) as
a JRF, and FIIT-JEE Ltd., NEW DELHI as a lecturer , preparing 11th and
12th students for IIT-JEE examination. His vision is to get his Ph.D in
Chemo-informatics and apply that knowledge in organic synthesis for
discovering and designing newer drugs. His strength lies in
spectroscopic analysis of data and retrosynthetic methods of Organic
synthesis and molecular modelling of Drug-DNA interaction.

Sadyasnata Patnaik is a post graduate in Microbiology and has a special
interest in virology and development of environmental friendly products
by the use of microbes. The course in bio-informatics has got her
interested in viral envelope structure and the various constraints
which one faces while facing a life threatening virus vaccine
production. The course has also instilled an interest in manipulation
of microbial proteins to produce better eco-friendly fuels, plastics
etc. Her interests include reading books from classics to the comics,
writing short articles, and music take up her free time too. She is a
member of the World Wildlife Fund for animals.

in silico epitope predictions. She envisages her future in proteomics
and would like to be in a research position in industry or academia
where she could use her bioinformatics skills for molecular biology. As

new" and likes creative writing and enjoys music in her free time.

future plans include pursuing higher studies and becoming an
