Aakanksha Mishra is a Zoology honors graduate from
Hansraj College,University of Delhi. It was during her short term
industrial training in Ranbaxy, Gurgaon that she developed keen
interest in bioinformatics. Her professional interests include
pharmacogenomics, sequence analysis and in silico drug
designing. She believes that entrepreneurial skills acquired at IBAB
will open a new vista for her.

Abheenava Kumar holds
a masters degree in Biochemistry from H. N. B.
Gharwal University. During M.Sc., he did a project on “Effect of
different stress conditions (heavy metal, pH, temperature) on the
physiology of Pseudomonas fluorescens”. He has
undergone 2 months summer training at Central Drug Research Institute,
Lucknow. His curiosity in the 'why' and 'how' of human diseases led him
to join the bioinformatics course in IBAB. His areas of interest are
cancer biology, functional genomics and would like to apply his
knowledge of computational structural biology in the field of
therapeutics for cancer. Being a biochemist, he wishes to work as an
interface between a wetlab and computer applications. He is interested
in R&D labs of biotechnology and health care company. In leisure,
he enjoys listening to music & playing cricket, chess. His other
interests are traveling & photography.

Joshi is a graduate in
Veterinary and
Animal Sciences from Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner. His
keen interest in Statistical Analysis and Computers brought him to
IBAB. In his future endeavors he intends to join the field of Clinical
Trials. In his leisure he likes to listen to Jagjit Singh and U2.

Amritendu B holds a B. Tech degree in Biotechnology from the Vellore
Institute of Technology, Vellore (TN). His final semester dissertation
was on ''Genetic diversity analysis of few Aspergillus
isolates using RAPD and ITS-RFLP'' at the Tropical Botanic Garden and
Research Institute (TBGRI), Thiruvananthapuram. He is interested in
microbial diversity estimation and analysis . He is very keen to
utilize the tools and techniques of bioinformatics for research in the
areas of metabolic engineering and neuroscience. Apart from painting,
he enjoys traveling.

Kumar Kesarwani holds a
master degree in Life
Sciences from Allahabad University, Allahabad. He has immense interest
in Bioinformatics. He has completed his project in Bioinformatics ,
entitled “Comparative Modeling of Human Cathepsin K” using the Modeller
package at IIDS, Nehru Science Centre, Allahabad. At IBAB, he hopes to
improve on his software skill required in the field of Bioinformatics.
He would like to pursue a Ph.D. in the realm of Bioinformatics.

Kumar is post graduate in
biotechnology from Guru Jambheshwar
University (Hissar), Haryana. He has qualified GATE-2005, CSIR
- UGC (NET) - 2005. He did his M.Sc. project training in
“Photosynthetic responses of rice seedlings to salt stress” from JNU
(Delhi). His main reason to join this course is to find the application
of bioinformatics and computational biology in drug designing,
molecular modeling and genetic analysis.

S Gupta is a Postgraduate
in
Biotechnology from Bangalore University. She had undergone training in
Animal cell culture at SR Biotech Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore. Her immense desire
to carve out a computational tool for assistance in research field
related to molecular biology brought her to IBAB. She is keenly
interested in functional and computational genomics, microarray
analysis and protein engineering. Her future plans include studying the
differentiation of stem cells using microarray analysis.

Ashutosh
Tripathy is a postgraduate in Biotechnology
from Utkal University, Orissa. He has worked on a 6 month project at
the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB), Kolkata on Drug
Delivery system against Reactive Oxygen Species . His areas of interest
are in proteomics, sequence analysis, drug designing and drug delivery.
He hopes that the skills acquired at IBAB would help him in his future
endeavors. He likes listening to Music and interacting with people.

Chitresh
Sharma is a Gold medalist with educational
qualification of graduation in horticulture from UHF, Solan. He
has undergone nine months certified training in computers and has
participated several brainstorming workshops on bioinformatics
conducted by DBT. With a GATE score of 83.82 and a
member of several international and regional bioinformatics socities
including ISCB and INBIOS, his inquisitiveness to
the realms of computational biology invoked him to join IBAB. His two
projects led to the development of bioinformatics unit at an
educational institute SILB at Solan. Apart from academics, he is
interested in designing computational tools and mathematical models to
solve complex problems in biology, particularly, for in-silico
drug designing, proteomics and genomics.

Panda is a university
rank holder with
an under graduate diploma in Dairy Technology from NDRI, Haryana. He
has done his Engineering in Food Technology from Sant Longowal
Institute of Engineering & Technology (SLIET), Punjab. After his BE
he has worked for Haldiram's Snacks Pvt Ltd . The course at IBAB has
given him a computational insight in the biological prospective. He is
also immensely interested in designing a neutraceutical food,
genetically modified food, gene prediction and mathematical aspect of
data mining.

Thiyam is a graduate in
biotechnology
from Bangalore University. She has also undergone a short-term (6
weeks) practical training in the field of microbiology at the Federal
Dairy Research Institute, Kiel, Germany. She completed elementary (G-1)
level in German language from the Goethe Institute, Bangalore. Her
interest in biology and the zeal to learn programming has been a
driving force in the area of bioinformatics. She hopes to acquire and
develop her knowledge and skills at IBAB which would be of immense help
in her future endeavors. Her hobbies range from reading, listening to
music to surfing the net.

has done her project on “Tissue reactions to Biopolymers” from Indian
Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) Hyderabad. Later, she worked as
a lecturer in Biotechnology at Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada. While
at IBAB, she is also pursuing her M.Phil., from the Centre for Distance
Education, Bharathidasan University. Her area of interests are Enzyme
biotechnology and Protein engineering.

Ravi Kumar holds an M.Sc.
in Applied and
Industrial Microbiology from Utkal University, Orissa with
specialization in Pharmaceutical and Clinical Microbiology. It was
during his final year project work on “Characterization of Excretory
Secretory antigens of Microfilariae and its use as an immunodiagnostic
agent for detection of Wucherria bancroftii” that he
developed a keen interest towards biostastistics and clinical trials.
His inquisitiveness as to how bioinformatics could be applied to the
field of medical microbiology led him to join IBAB. He is also
proficient in microbial techniques and fermentation technology.

Kumar is Masters of Business
Administration from Gujarat University and holds a graduate degree in
Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry from Gujarat Agricultural
University. His area of interest lies in investment banking, IPR
management and consulting in health services of pharmaceutical and
biotechnology companies. His inquisitiveness to learn indepth of
biotechnology brings him to IBAB. He wants to mingle this technological
knowledge with practical business perspectives of bioscience industry.

Ojaswani
Pandey is a post graduate
in
Biotechnology from Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan. During her masters
she availed DBT Scholarship & worked on the projects “HLA alleles
identification” and “Studies on genetic diversity of Syzygium
Cumini using molecular (RAPD) and phytochemical approches”. Later
she worked as a Research Associate at Non Aligned Movement Science and
Technology Centre (NAM S&T), Delhi. Her interest in immunology,
genetics and molecular biology has brought her Distinction certificates
of Delhi University from where she did her graduation in Microbiology
with honors. She has also done one year Certificate Courses in Computer
Programming and Application and a diploma in German language. She has
always been fascinated by the idea of using computational skills in the
speedy development of biological sciences and this led her to join
IBAB. Her interests include drug designing, protein structure and gene
prediction and microarray analysis. Her aim is to use her persevering
nature and positive attitude in the development of Science and
Technology.

Pratima
Choudhary is a
post-graduate in
Microbiology from Seedling Academy of Design, Technology and
Management, affiliated to Rajasthan University. As a part of her
curriculum she has done her summer projects from Central Drug Research
Institute, Lucknow on “Micropropagation and Generation of Embryogenic
cultures” and Plant Tissue Culture Division at National Chemical
Laboratory, Pune. She finds recombinant DNA technology technique quite
interesting. Besides that she also has computer Diploma from NIIT. A
combination of both fields led her to take up Bioinformatics as her
career where she can apply both processes and get to learn Drug
designing and Molecular modelling in depth.

specialization in Human Genetics. He has qualified CSIR-UGC NET (LS).
He wishes to pursue his career in research on Gene Expression. He
thinks that in the post- genomic era, annotating the huge amounts of

”Living life to the Fullest”. He writes poetry and is mad about 3 M's -
Mother, Music and Movies.

for 18 months. His interests include structural biology, molecular
modeling and systems biology. He enjoys reading fiction and traveling.

fingerprinting on Terminalia chebula using RAPD markers. Her
academic background includes immunological research, interaction in
proteins,drug designing. Her twin interest in computer and life
sciences brought her to the field of bioinformatics.

interested in further research in Computational Genetics. She was
amazed by the happenings in the life science industry and she feels
that IBAB would be a stepping stone for her career.

Offshore campus, Bangalore) for the freshers who are pursuing medicine.
She wanted to pursue her higher education in bioinformatics as she was
always interested in computational biology and sequence analysis of
biological molecules using biostatistics and software skills. After
completion of the course at IBAB, she would complement her studies
further by doing research in this particular domain.

holds a graduate degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Osmania
University, Hyderabad. As a part of her curriculum she has done a
project entitled "Manufacture of solid dosage forms" in which she
worked in the area of quality assurance and on various quality control
tests of tablets. She feels bioinformatics has opened a new gateway for
her to understand the molecular and atomic functioning perfectly so
that in future she can apply this knowledge for novel drug designing.
She would like to pursue research in the malfunctioning at the
molecular and atomic levels in Diabetes mellitus and with the aid of
bioinformatics she want to design a new anti diabetic drug.

Peter Luis is
postgraduate in Biotechnology
from St. Aloysius College, Mangalore University. He has successfully
completed a project entitled "Transformation studies in Arabidopsis
thaliana and Brassica juncea using GFP as a marker”. He
has undergone training in “Microbial transformation techniques and
plasmid isolation” at NABTD, BARC, Mumbai collaborated with Dr. W.
Küppers Biotech Unit, Laboratory of Applied Biology, St. Aloysius
College, Mangalore. Subsequently, he worked as a Senior Executive -
Regulatory Affairs & International Relations with Medreich Limited,
Bangalore. While dealing with pharmacological parameters of various
drugs, his analytical mind was curious to understand the biology of
human diseases and find an integrated approach for their remedies. In
pursuit of his desire, he joined IBAB which apart from academics also
has accredited him with entrepreneurial skills. He feels Bioinformatics
has added a new perspective to his understanding of Industrial
biotechnology for healthcare products and Clinical research, which are
the key areas that appeal to him.
