Eligibility
Q. Who
is eligible for the course?
A. Anyone who has completed MSc (Life Science) or BTech (biotechnology)
is eligible for the course. Other candidates from relevant background,
like MBBS or B.Sc. biotechnology, can also be considered if they have
specific career plans and interest.
Q. Is
there an age limit for the course?
A. There is no age limit for the course.
Admission Procedure
Q. Application form: When and where?
A. Application forms can be collected between 9am and 6pm,
Monday-Saturday, at IBAB, Bangalore in person or by post on submission
of DD of Rs.500/- (application processing fee) drawn in favor of
"Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology" payable at
Bangalore. You can also download the application form in Word
/ PDF
format from our site, fill the form and send it to us along with the DD
of Rs. 500/-. We suggest you to dispatch the completed form on or
before 09 August 2006.
Q. When
is the last date of posting?
A. Last date for submitting filled application forms: 09 August 2006.
The application form fee is non-refundable. Forms received after the
last date will be rejected.
Q. What
is the selection procedure and schedule?
A.
Tentative dates for selection
procedures: Test and Interview on 20 Aug. and 14 Sept., 2006,
respectively.
Course Duration: 6 months (certificate course) or 12 months (diploma,
with project work).
Course Commences: Tentatively in the first week of November 2006.
Maximum no. of seats: 20.
Fees:
Q. What is the fee structure?
A. Fees for regular applicant is as follows:
- Additional Rs. 30,000/- for those choosing
internship (diploma course), to be paid at the joining time
Corporate Sponsored students
The fee is Rs. 1,20,000/- for the certificate course and 1,60,000/- for
the diploma. The fees are non-refundable. The amount has to be paid by
DD at the time of admission.
Placements
Q.
What is the placement guarantee?
A. The placement success is very high.
The quality of training would definitely give an edge to the students
in having better career growth and attain confidence. About 95% of the
both the batches completed so far have been placed well (see below).
Q.
Where are the students placed after the course?
A. The students who have undergone this course are employed/offered
positions by the organizations listed below:
- Industries: Molecular Connections,
Simbiosys, Avesthagen, Simbiosys Biowares and Microtest Innovation.
- Academia: Indian Institute of Science,
National Centre for Biological Sciences, Centre for Human Genetics,
IBAB, University of Georgia (USA).

Q.
Can I bring my vehicle to IBAB (ITPL)?
A. Yes. There will be parking fees for your vehicle.
Q. Where is ITPL?
A. It is on Whitefield road, about 1 hour drive (when there is not much
traffic!) from the Majestic area and approximately 30 min from MG Road.
Q. Is there a public transport service to ITPL?
A. Public buses (both BTS and some private buses/vans) stop close to
ITPL. The BTS (BMTC) bus numbers are listed below:
KR Market to ITPL: 304C, 304E, 305A, 305B, 305E, 306, 306A, 306B, 306E,
319A, 321, 321A, 321C
Majestic (Kempe Gowda Bus stop) to ITPL: 319C, 320A 334
Shivajinagar to ITPL: 304D, 320, 339, 339E. Please confirm the BTS
(BMTC).
In addition, there are ITPL buses. Please inquire with ITPL office for
further details.
Q. How do I reach IBAB once I reach ITPL?
A. IBAB is situated in the 'Tech Park Mall'
(ground floor) of the ITPL. There is a passage adjacent to the ICICI
bank which directly leads to IBAB entrance. There will be Airtel,
Touchtel and Spice offices, on your right, as you walk in this passage.
You can also ask the ITPL security personnel for directions to IBAB.
Q. What are the other facilities at ITPL?
A. ATM machines (HDFC, ICICI, Citi bank etc),
limited shopping facilities, paid phone booths, internet, restaurants,
health club, photo development centre and a health care centre are
available in the Tech Park Mall of ITPL.
