Biotech is not only
about research, but also has entrepreneurial potential. We host
occasional lectures related to innovation and entrepreneurship in
biotechnology, and even on entrepreneurship outside of biotechnology.

Biodiversity and
biotechnological applications of Cyanobacteria

Speaker: Dr. N. Thajuddin,
Bharathidasan University.
Dr. Thajuddin of the National Facility for Marine Cyanobacteria spoke
to the students of IBAB on two major themes. He described the
extent of cyanobacterial biodiversity, with excellent illustrations of
the various environments from where they are isolated and their highly
varied morphology. In addition, he talked of the large variety of
potential biotechnological applications. The case of Spirulina
was discussed in detail, including the process of production. The
students who are interested in becoming entrepreneurs had separate
1-on-1 sessions with him.
Trans-border deal making
