![]() Education, Research and Entrepreneurship in Bioinformatics and Biotechnology IBAB is a 'Centre of Excellence for Research and Training in Bioinformatics' of the Department of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India. IBAB is now
in its own 20 acre campus in Electronics City with excellent
infrastructure, students' hostel and other amenities. It has recently
added several state of the art facilities to its bioinformatics and
biotechnology laboratories to enhance its training and research
capabilities. IBAB also hosts GANIT Labs, a multi
institutional partnership under the aegis of
Department of Information Technology, Government of India, and
Department of IT, BT and ST, Government of Karnataka, that works in the
area of genome sequencing and data analysis. The
institute runs an MSc in Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (degree
awarded by University of Mysore, Mysore) and a Ph.D. program (degree awarded by Manipal
University). |

1. The placements of the MSc students has begun. Companies/academic institutes wishing to recruit for internships/jobs should write to skiran@ibab.ac.in (Ms. Kiran Singh). 2. Hands-on training (23 June - 4 July) in genomics (NGS,SNPs, metagenomics..), transcriptomics (RNA-seq, microarray, miRNA..) & proteomics (mass spec, protein interactions, drug designing ..) 3. Nobel Laureate Venkatraman (Venki) Ramakrishnan, Medical Research Council, Cambridge, UK, delivered the inaugural of the "The Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw Lecture Series" at IBAB on 22 December 2011.
