Education, Research and Entrepreneurship in Bioinformatics and Biotechnology
IBAB is a 'Centre of Excellence for Research and Training in Bioinformatics' of the Department of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India.

IBAB is now in its own 20 acre campus in Electronics City with excellent infrastructure, students' hostel and other amenities. It has recently added several state of the art facilities to its bioinformatics and biotechnology laboratories to enhance its training and research capabilities. IBAB also hosts GANIT Labs, a multi institutional partnership under the aegis of Department of Information Technology, Government of India, and Department of IT, BT and ST, Government of Karnataka, that works in the area of genome sequencing and data analysis. The institute runs an MSc in Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (degree awarded by University of Mysore, Mysore) and a Ph.D. program (degree awarded by Manipal University).

IBAB has world class faculty trained from top-notch institutions with significant teaching and research experience. Students are exposed to the most recent advances in the biotech industry and academic research through the large number of scientists who visit IBAB all year around from across the globe. The combination of teaching capacities, exposure to current research, focus on self-learning capacities, personality development and modern facilities have helped IBAB to be among the very few Indian institutes which have achieved 100% placement record in the lifesciences' sector.
