AJAY B.C.
Ajay is an M.Sc (Agriculture) graduate specialized in genetics and
plant breeding (GPB). During his PG programme he worked for 18 months
on a project entitled “Selection of groundnut varieties for
confectionery traits and selection of donors for their improvement”. In
this project he analyzed the confectionery traits (oil and protein
content and oil quality) and diversity (using RAPD) among the
varieties. During this period he developed an interest in molecular
biology and would like to pursue research in this field.

AMRUTA KIRAN KAMATH
Amruta is a B.E Biotechnology graduate. She has worked on a project on
bioremediation of an industrial effluent - this consisted of
characterization of effluent, isolation and characterization of
micro-organisms and treatment of effluent. She has a keen interest in
immunology, molecular biology and genetic engineering and would like to
pursue research in these areas.

ARCHANA M
Archana is a M. Sc Biotechnology. Reading about early diagnosis of
diseases and appropriate treatment with the help of newly formulated
drug has drawn her interest towards molecular biology and genetic
engineering. Protecting the rights of the owners of new formulations
and ideas has assumed great importance and she has developed keen
interest in IPR related issues. She hopes the biotechnique skills
acquired at IBAB will make her an able researcher.

DEEPTI JOHNY
Deepti completed her M. Sc Biotechnology from Sri Ramachandra Medical
College & Research Institute, Chennai. Her field of interest
includes immuno diagnostics and immuno techniques. She did 6 months
project work on diagnosis of gastric & pancreatic malignancies by
simple method of genomic DNA quantification, protein quantification
& FTIR spectroscopy. She was employed for one year at Jubilant
Biosys Ltd., Mysore for the post of Trainee Scientist and her work
involved data mining. On completion her her course at IBAB she would
like to join a biotech company.

DINESH KUMATR SAINI

GEOJITH GEORGE
Geojith is a post graduate in biotechnology from Bangalore University.
An avid reader, he hopes to make a mark as a research scientist. He did
his project in “Hairy Root Induction in Momordica dioica“ and
“Antimicrobial activity Assay of some Crude Phytoextracts” which helped
in generating an interest in plant molecular biology, phytochemistry
and drug discovery. He would like to utilize the vast biodiversity of
the Indian sub-continent in service of humanity.

GOVIND M NAIR
Govind did his B.E. Biotechnology from Visveswaraiah Technological
University. His interest lies in genetic engineering and bioinformatics
and his final year project was titled ' In-silico analysis of
memantine, nitromemeantine and MK-801 for Alzheimer's disease therapy
and analog design of memantine'. His ambition is to work in the field
of genetic engineering.

GRETA KASLIWAL
Greta is a B.Tech Biotechnology from Jaypee Institute of Information
Technology, Noida. She is looking forward to a research-oriented career
in biotechnology. Her final year project “ Optimization of
micropropagation technique for the growth of Jatropha curcas” gave her
an exposure to research work and helped her understand the role of
biotechnology in different areas. She hopes the laboratory course in
biotechniques at IBAB will equip her with the tools required for
exploring the various avenues in the field of biotechnology.

Kanika, gold medalist in microbiology would like to pursue a growth
oriented and challenging career in the research areas of microbiology.
Dedication, commitment and sincerity and good communication skills are
her strengths.

LIDA PUNNOOSE
Lida's areas of interest are metabolism, cell and molecular biology and
immunology. She would like to pursue research in areas of oncology. She
has studied the principles of techniques and would like to get
extensive hands-on experience. She expects the course at IBAB will
familiarize her with the techniques in biotechnology which in turn will
help her achieve career goals.

MAMATA KUMARI
PANDA
Mamata obtained her M.Sc Life Sciences with specialization in
cytogenetics from Berhampur University, Orissa and thereafter M. Phil
in genetic toxicology under the guidance of Dr. B. B. Panda, from the
same university. Her M. Phil dissertation was on studies on stress
responses of plants to certain heavy metals.

RAJADHARASHINI
Rajadharshini holds a B.Tech in Industrial Biotechnology. Her areas of
interest are microbiology, food technology and enzyme engineering. She
has done a project on structure based drug designing of p38 mitogen
activator protein kinase involved in inflammatory arthritis at Sai's
Biosciences Research Institute, Chennai. She has presented four papers
in various national seminars and would like to utilize her skills at
the industrial level.

RAJESH KUMAR
Rajesh completed his master's degree in biotechnology from Allahabad
Agricultural Institute Deemed University, Allahabad. While doing a
project at Indian Veterinary Research Institute (Izzatnagar, Bareilly)
on “gene cloning of human interleukin-2” he developed an interest in
immunology and vaccine development but dreams of working in the field
of metabolomics. He intends to study for a PhD in U.S.A after 1-2 years
of work experience. Rajesh has qualified twice for Gate with a 94
percentile.

ROSMY SEBASTIAN
Rosmy completed her B.Tech in Biotechnology from Bharathidasan
Institute of Technology and Science,Trichy. She underwent a summer
project and training in biotechnology at IIT, Delhi, which familiarized
her with some basic techniques. She has keen interest in molecular
biology, genetics and fermentation technology.

SEENA SADANANDAN
Seena holds a B. Tech in Industrial Biotechnology. Her areas of a
interest include microbiology, molecular biology, immunology and enzyme
engineering. She did a project on subcloning and expression of CRK-L
gene at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology. She presented three
papers at national seminars and was awarded third prize for one of
them. She joined IBAB to strengthen her practical skills and also
improve upon the theoretical aspects.

SUMI T S
Sumi, with her research and analysis skills, finds biotechnology to be
the appropriate field. Her areas of interest are pharmaceutical
engineering (drug designing), molecular biology, microbiology and
enzyme engineering. She did a project on the study of reduction of
chromium in tannery effluent. She also worked as a committee member for
the international symposium 'Biovision'. She feels IBAB to be the
appropriate platform from which to explore her caliber.

SUNEESH K
Suneesh is a postgraduate in biochemistry from Mahatma Gandhi
University, Kerala. He is interested in protein folding and structure ,
enzymology, molecular biology etc. and has been working as a lecturer
in biochemistry for the last two years at Kannur University , Kerala .
His ambition is to become a scientist.

VANITA CHARLES
MALLEKAR
Vanita completed her M.Sc in Agricultural Microbiology from the
University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. She worked on granular
biofertilizers and the survivability of Rhizobium in carrier based
granular inoculants and studying it's effect on the growth and yield of
groundnut. She got hands-on experience in bacterial biodiversity when
she worked as a Junior Research Fellow in UAS, Dharwad for two years.
She has experience in microbial isolation, culturing and preservation
and other microbial techniques. She aspires to work in research and
development.
