IBAB has an interest in Intellectual Property (IP). This has manifested as follows:

Teaching

For IBAB students

From the very first batch of the Postgraduate Diploma in Bioinformatics, guest faculty have been invited to offer a 1-credit module to the students. We have been very fortunate in having had as guest faculty Dr. Malathi Lakshmikumaran, Ms. Mrinalini Menon, Ms. Sangeeta Udgaonkar and Mr. Kalyan Chakravarthy who have taught our students over the past few years. This course will henceforth be taken by Dr. Ritu Mehdiratta.

Analysis and research

We are in the process of increasing our own knowledge in this area. As our understanding increases, we are sharing this with the academic and corporate research communities through our general articles. In addition, several research projects in the area of Biotech IP are underway. Please see the list of publications for further details.

PERSONNEL

Dr. Ritu Mehdiratta did her PhD at Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi in the area of structural biology. She has a specific interest in the area of IPR in biotechnology, and is leading an effort in this direction

GS

Dr. Gayatri Saberwal, did her PhD in the life sciences at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad. She then did her post-doctoral work at at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, New York. She has been involved with IBAB since its establishment in 2001. Since 2003 she has been spearheading the entrepreneurship activities at IBAB.
