Welcome to ExPrimer

ExPrimer is a web based computer program to design primers from exon-exon junctions of a specified gene transcript. The tool suggests the optimum pair(s) of primers of which the right (reverse) primer always represents the exon-exon junction of the mRNA. The results page lists all other primer pairs considered along with the computed scores for various primer-parameters. ExPrimer has an option to interface with NCBI BLASTn program to evaluate sequence specificity of the primers. The tool can have applications in many areas of molecular biology research that involve RT-PCR, expression profiling of splice variants etc. For more information please refer to user-guide.

BLAST one step
  • May involve prolonged wait-time!
  • BLAST scores shown.
Non - BLAST two step
  • BLAST result displayed.
  • BLAST results need to be saved as *.txt file.
BLAST two step
  • No interface to NCBI BLAST.
  • No BLAST scores.
Please note: ExPrimer is currently being tested. We appreciate your feedback.
