Faculty Position in Computational Biology/Genomics at IBAB
IBAB seeks to appoint a faculty member in the area of computational biology with a focus on genomics and analysis of Next Generation Sequencing data. The applicant should have an inclination to develop research programmes in genomics with a strong focus on genomic data analysis, and to develop algorithms and tools for the analysis of such data.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include
- Teaching genomics and NGS data analysis courses in the educational programmes of the Institute
- Conducting short-term training programmes in genomics and computational biology for students, researchers and faculty
- Developing strong, extramurally-funded and collaborative research programmes in genomics for biological and clinical data analysis
- Supporting institutional research and academic programmes, and participating actively in institutional activities
Eligibility

Project Assistant Positions Machine Learning in Computational Biology/Genomics
Applications are invited from motivated candidates for the Project Assistant position(s) in the Machine Learning group at the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), Bengaluru. The successful candidate will work in the area of machine learning in computational biology with a focus on genomics and analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data related to neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs). The applicant should be inclined to study the genomics of NDDs, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), with a strong focus on developing machine/deep learning models for genomic data analysis.

Applications are invited for the position of Scientific Officer-in-charge of the Instrumentation Facilities (IF) at IBAB, Electronics city, Bengaluru. The successful candidate will:
- Manage the IF, including regular servicing, maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment.
- Organise the day-to-day activities of the facilities for optimum utilization; this will include coordination between IBAB researchers, incubatees and external users, and maintenance of a user registry.
- Organise periodic orientation programs for new researchers, students and other users in laboratory protocols and SOPs.
- Provide training on a regular basis for handling the equipment and safety awareness.

Postdoctoral position at IBAB
The Subha Lab at IBAB (https://www.ibab.ac.in/people/distinguished-professors-and-chairs/prof-subha-srinivasan/) has a post-doctoral position open to study the role of the homologs of TNF-TNFR super family in Plasmodium resistance, which may be evolutionarily conserved in mosquito vectors since before the invertebrate-vertebrate split. The work will involve but not limited to:
- Tracing the evolutionary origin of TNF-TNFR super family in innate immunity
- Recombinant expression of selected genes from malaria vectors; co-crystallization of the respective receptor-ligand complexes; determination of the crystal structure oft he complex
- Expression profiling of pathway genes before and after blood feeding among infected and uninfected insects with Plasmodium.
