Project Assistant (Wet Lab) in NGS Facility, Bio-IT Centre

The Project Assistant will work in the next-generation sequencing (NGS) facility to perform nucleic acid isolations, quality and quantity analyses, NGS library preparations, and maintenance of sequencing related instruments and other related lab equipment. In addition, the candidate is expected to assist in various administrative matters including procurement, maintaining inventory of laboratory consumables etc. The person will have opportunity to get expertise in entire pipeline of NGS. After sufficient training, the person will act as a demonstrator in the workshops conducted by Bio-IT centre.

Essential Qualifications, Experiences, and Skills

  1. MSc. or B. Tech. or equivalent degree in Biotechnology or related life sciences discipline.
  2. Strong aptitude for laboratory work and should be detail-oriented person.
  3. Hands-on experience in basic molecular biology techniques.
  4. Prior experience in working in a research laboratory or industry.
  5. Basic IT skills that include familiarity with Microsoft Office packages.
  6. Ability to carry out basic maintenance of general lab equipments and laboratory resources.
  7. Ability to maintain accurate records of laboratory work.
  8. Willingness to learn, and should be a team player.

Desirable Experience and Skills

  1. Familiarity with NGS technology.
  2. Experience in preparation of NGS libraries.

Junior Research Fellow in Bioinformatics

Applications for B4 Young Scientist Program Workshop on BioImaging: Advanced Light Microscopy

The aim of this workshop is to introduce students to advances in contemporary light microscopy through lectures and hands-on training in imaging modalities ranging from basic microscopy to super-resolution imaging.

PhD positions

Applications are invited from highly motivated students for a PhD position at IBAB, Bengaluru. The successful candidate will work in an industrial research project sponsored by a highly reputed multinational pharma and life sciences company. The candidate will work in the frontier area of developing antibodies for immunotherapy in collaboration with an industrial partner.

Specialised training will be given in the project which involves engineering antibodies and development of cell-based assays. The position will be available for a period of two years initially and extendable by further three years. The selected candidate will receive a fellowship and be provided accommodation in IBAB hostel.

Essential Qualifications, Experiences and Skills

  1. Master’s degree (M.Sc. OR equivalent) in Life Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ or related subjects with at least 60% of marks or 6.50 CGPA from a recognized university.
  2. Excellent hands-on skills in basic molecular biology techniques, protein expression and purification.
  3. Good computer skills including use of Microsoft Office packages and working with online databases.
  4. Good organisational and prioritisation skills, ability to maintain accurate lab records.
  5. Ability to carry out basic maintenance of general lab equipment’s and resources.
  6. Excellent communication skills and team player, willingness to learn and enjoy solving problems.

Desirable Experiences and Skills

  1. Experience in working in a molecular biology laboratory and/or tissue culture facility.
  2. Experience of working in industry.

Remuneration

The student will receive a fellowship of Rs. 31,000/- per month for the first two years and Rs. 35,000/- per month for the next three years following an annual review of the work and satisfactory progress. In addition, house rent allowance and contingency will be paid as per Government of India norms.

Project Assistant Position
