3-days Hands-on Workshop on “Whole Exome Sequence Analysis”
November 25-27, 2022

The Bio-IT Centre at IBAB is organizing a three-days Hands-on Workshop on “Whole Exome Sequence Analysis” during November 25-27, 2022. This workshop will provide hands-on training in single nucleotide variant and copy number variant analysis, visualizing and representing the mutations.

Target Audience:

The course is aimed at students, researchers, and technicians who wish to employ NGS sequencing approaches in their work but may not have sufficient training in/awareness of library preparation, a critical step in data analysis. Ph.D. scholars/postdoctoral fellows/JRFs/faculty involved in pure NGS analysis are encouraged to apply. The course will also benefit those pursuing M.Sc./ M.Tech. in Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Microbiology/Biosciences who may be interested in transitioning to molecular biology/ bioinformatics-focused opportunities in academia or industry. Teachers from undergraduate and postgraduate teaching institutions and research institutes across Karnataka are highly encouraged to apply. Please note that minimal eligibility is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree.

Only twenty-five candidates will be selected for this workshop on a first-come basis.

Registration Fee (inclusive of GST): These fees are only for those working in India. If you are working abroad, please email careers_bioit@ibab.ac.in for payment details.

About Bio-IT Centre:

The Bio-IT Research and Training Centre (Bio-IT Centre) was established at the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB) in 2010 with support from the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeITY), the Government of India, and the Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka. Bio-IT Centre has a state-of-art sequencing facility with the high-throughput sequencer HiSeq 2500 and several accessory equipments such as a Hi-Scan system for Illumina bead array and microarray-based imaging, Qubit, C-bot, Covaris, Bio-analyzer and Agilent 2200 Tape-station for the processing of DNA and RNA samples, Stratagene Mx 3000 for Real-Time PCR, and 3500 Dx Genetic Analyzer for capillary electrophoresis based sequencing. Bio-IT Centre provides sequencing and analysis services in either collaborative or service mode. The Centre also regularly organizes introductory and advanced bioinformatics and NGS analysis workshops.

About IBAB:

IBAB, located in Electronic City, Bengaluru, is a unique institution engaged in education, research, and entrepreneur-supported programs. IBAB’s mission is to catalyze the growth of India’s biotechnology and bioinformatics industries. IBAB offers a unique M.Sc. degree program (with dual specialization in Bioinformatics and Biotechnology), an interdisciplinary Ph.D. research program, and a Post Graduate Diploma Programme (in Big Data Biology). The institute has strong research programs in various disciplines such as Cancer Biology, Infectious Disease Biology, Synthetic Biology, Molecular Parasitology, Microbial Genomics, Structural Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, and Drug Discovery and Mathematical Biology. This is evident by the educational qualification, peer-reviewed publications, academic and industrial collaborations, and teaching experienceof well-trained faculty members.
