Hands-on Online Workshop on “Fundamentals of NGS analysis and Drug Discovery

25-28 August 2021

The Bio-IT Centre at IBAB is organizing a four-day online workshop on “Fundamentals of NGS analysis and Drug Discovery” from 26-28 August 2021. This workshop will cover basic concepts in genomics such as analyzing Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data, mining and analyzing genome and protein sequences, and performing structural analysis leading to drug discovery. We will also provide hands-on training in programming (UNIX and R) to perform these analyses. Additionally, participants will be introduced to NGS analysis and drug discovery pipelines and their implementation, which they could independently apply to their project(s) of choice. The overall goal of the workshop is to give biologists a working knowledge of bioinformatics techniques that are integral to modern biology.

Target Audience:

The course is aimed at students, researchers, and technicians who wish to employ bioinformatics approaches in their work but may not have sufficient training in/awareness of bioinformatics. Ph.D. scholars/ postdoctoral fellows/ JRFs/ faculty involved in pure experimental biological research are encouraged to apply. The course will also be beneficial to those pursuing M.Sc./ M.Tech. in Biotechnology/ Life Sciences/ Microbiology/ Biosciences who may be interested in transitioning to bioinformatics-focused opportunities in academia or industry. Teachers from undergraduate and postgraduate teaching institutions and research institutes across Karnataka are also encouraged to apply. Please note that minimal eligibility is pursuing a Master’s degree.

Thirty-five candidates will be selected for this workshop on a first-come basis.

Course Fee (inclusive of GST):

Masters studentsINR 3000
Research students (PA, Ph.D., etc.) and TechniciansINR 5000
Postdoctoral fellows, Faculty, and LecturersINR 8000
Industrial applicantsINR 12,000

Registration Procedure:

Interested participants should register for this workshop by filling up this google form. You will be asked to upload your resume, along with a recent photo and a write-up (minimum 100 words) on how this workshop will be helpful for your research and career development. The registration deadline is 18 August 2021. After filling the google form, you will receive information on how to pay the registration fee. Once Thirty-five seats are filled, the registration will be closed.
