Advertisement for two positions of Junior Research Fellow in the Structural Biology of Therapeutic Targets group.

Applications are invited from motivated students positions of Junior Research Fellow in the Structural Biology of Therapeutics Targets lab@IBAB, Bengaluru (https://www.ibab.ac.in/research/urvashi-sharma/). The successful candidate will perform cutting-edge research on diverse research projects related to structure-function studies on proteins/enzymes involved in Mycobacterium tuberculosis cell wall biosynthesis and drug design using X-ray crystallography and/or biophysical methods. Successful candidate will get specialized training in structural biology and biophysical protein characterization methods. The position will be available for an initial period of six months and based on performance, is extendable until next 3 years. Candidates with CSIR/UGC-NET, GATE, DBT-BINC, DST fellowships will be preferred. Meritorious candidates will be eligible to enroll in the PhD program.

Essential Qualifications, Experiences, and Skills:

  1. Master’s Degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Life Sciences or related subjects with at least 60% of marks or 6.50 CGPA from a recognized university.
  2. Sound knowledge and hands on skills on molecular cloning, protein expression from E. coli or other expression hosts.
  3. Excellent communication and organizational skills, strong interest in structural biology.
  4. Should be a team player and willing to learn new techniques.

Preference will be given if you have:

  1. Prior knowledge of protein purification using column chromatography methods (familiarity with FPLC/AKTA systems) and/or protein crystallization would be a plus point.
  2. Knowledge of bioinformatics tool, homology modelling, molecular dynamics simulation if/any.
  3. Experience in any programming language such as UNIX, Python etc.

Remuneration:
Remuneration will be as per the policy of funding agency.

Tenure:
The selected candidate will be on probation for initial 6 months, the tenure is renewable every six months and extendable until September 2023 based on satisfactory performance.
