Dr Ekroop Caur is an Indian Administrative Service Officer of the 2001 batch. After doing her BA (Hons), MA and PhD from Punjab University as UGC Junior Research Fellow, she did her Masters in Public Administration from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore. She has 20+ years of experience in various fields of public administration including general administration, implementation of development programs, and planning and public policy making. She is a recipient of the Prime Minister’s award for Excellence in Public Administration for her work in implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Dr. Caur has held key positions in government including position of Secretary Finance, dealing with state budget, resources and expenditure. She has also headed the Karnataka State Finance Corporation. She has the unique experience of running the country’s largest urban transport company – BMTC. Besides receiving many awards for her work in BMTC, she was also involved in various committees and groups at the national and international levels, and contributed towards shaping of policies and strategies for public transport.

Dr. Caur has served as Director on the boards of various public sector companies like KSMCL, HGML, KPTCL, BESCOM, Bangalore Smart City, etc. and companies like Bangalore International Airport Ltd., Information Technology Park Ltd. and premier institutes like Indian Institute Information Technology, Bangalore/Raichur. Presently, she is working as Secretary Electronics, IT, BT, and Science & Technology in the Govt of Karnataka.

Dr. Caur’s area of interests include public policy, finance, urban governance and infrastructure.
