IBAB Silver Jubilee Celebrations

Celebrating 25 years of vision, discovery and excellence

The Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB) marks a significant milestone – 25 years of leading contributions to bioinformatics, genomics, synthetic biology, and interdisciplinary innovation. Established in 2001 with a bold vision to bridge the gap between academic research and industry needs in Karnataka’s and India’s burgeoning biotechnology sector, IBAB has steadily evolved into a nationally respected and globally connected centre of excellence.

From its inception, IBAB has remained steadfast in its mission: to foster cutting-edge research, offer industry-aligned education, and cultivate a new generation of scientists, innovators, and leaders. Over the past two and a half decades, the institute has:
 - Trained hundreds of bio-scientists, many of whom now serve in pivotal roles across academia, industry, and entrepreneurship in India and abroad.
 - Published high-impact research across genomics, computational biology, synthetic biology, and more.
 - Established strategic partnerships with top-tier institutions and biotech companies globally.
 - Emerged as a hub for interdisciplinary research, combining data science, biotechnology, and innovation in one of India’s most dynamic ecosystems, Bengaluru.

Twenty five years is not merely a number, it is a testament! A testament to the farsightedness of the Vision Group of Biotechnology Karnataka who founded IBAB, to the faculty who transformed it into a centre of excellence, and to the students, alumni, and collaborators who shaped its ever-growing impact. Through the Silver Jubilee Celebrations, we commemorate a quarter-century of institutional evolution, reaffirm our enduring mission, and collectively envision a future shaped by continued excellence and innovation.

We invite students, alumni, researchers, and the broader public to join us in a dynamic series of events celebrating IBAB’s contributions to the world of life sciences.
