Advertisement for the position of Research Scientist at Bio-IT centre, IBAB

Applications are invited for the position of Research Scientist in the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) facility of the Bio-IT centre at IBAB, Bengaluru. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in using Illumina platforms, including library preparation, sequencing, and data processing. The candidate will operate, coordinate and manage the NGS facility and its activities including training students, faculty and researchers. Interested candidates will also be encouraged to participate in IBAB’s research activities. The position is available for a period of one year initially, which is further extendable, based on performance.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. PhD in Life Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Genetics or related subjects
  2. Excellent hands-on skills in NGS including cloning, library preparation, sequencing.
  3. Minimum two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of Illumina platforms
  4. Good IT skills including use of Microsoft Office packages and working with online databases.
  5. Ability to provide training to students, faculty, and researchers
  6. Candidates with experience in downstream NGS data analysis will be given preference
    Remuneration: Remuneration will be commensurate with expertise and experience

About Bio-IT, IBAB: The Bio-IT center comprises a state-of-the-art NGS facility, with high throughput sequencers that can generate >500 GB data in 10 days. Other equipment in the facility include Hi-Scan (Illumina bead-array) for genotyping, and Qubit, C-bot, Covaris, Bioanalyzer and Tape-station for the processing of DNA and RNA samples. Services are provided in collaborative program mode or on fixed rate contract basis.
