
IBAB kick-started its Silver Jubilee Celebrations with an Inaugural Lecture by Prof. K. Thangarajan of CSIR-CCMB, Hyderabad, and the Joint National Coordinator of the GenomeIndia project. The title of his talk was ““GenomeIndia Project: A Population Genomic Endeavor for Public Health.” The event attracted over 200 participants from IBAB, CHG and BBC, and other institutes in Bengaluru, with Prof. Sharath Chandra, the Chairperson, Governing Body-IBAB, reflecting on the foundations of IBAB that were laid in 2000 and how the institute has since evolved. Commending the contributions of ex-IBAB Directors Prof. Manju Bansal, Prof. N. Yathindra, and Prof. H. S. Subramanya, the current Director, Prof. D. Sundar, outlined his vision for IBAB and how the institute can continue to grow in today’s big data-driven world.
