Introduction
With the all-pervasive Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning foraying into biological sciences, it is essential to discuss the latest developments in the fundamentals of these core technologies. Quantum computing is another revolutionary field, whose strides are becoming relevant in biological applications. Through this mini-symposium on Quantum and AI/ML, IBAB brings together leading speakers in these fields to disseminate the state-of-the-art to excite the community.
Relevance to IBAB’s Silver Jubilee Celebrations
We at IBAB, envision integrating fundamental mathematical and physical sciences with applied research in different areas of biology through this mini-symposium. With the recent introduction of the Big Data Biology teaching program at IBAB, IBAB is posed at this momentous juncture to begin its role in answering frontier research questions in the areas of machine learning and artificial intelligence.
IBAB also began to recently diversify its interests by including the investigation of quantum phenomena in biology. At the 25th year since its inception, IBAB is also looking forward to expanding its repertoire of research themes by delving ever deeper into the microscopic quantum world of atoms and molecules. Towards this end, this symposium also features talks in the direct role of quantum physics in biological function.
