This DBT-funded workshop was organized in collaboration with The Mittal Institute, Harvard University, USA and IISER Pune. Twenty-five undergraduate and post-graduate students from all over India received extensive hands-on training for two weeks during which they engineered a metabolic pathway in yeast cells using current technology platforms and state-of-the-art approaches in synthetic biology. The workshop also included panel discussions and lectures by academic and industry experts from the US and India on emerging areas of synthetic biology and its future potential in shaping the biotech industry, as well as on ethics and regulatory issues.
